
Hey! It's been pretty slow here lately, but I've almost finished my tileset (after only two years!). I just need to finish enemy mages, knights, and a few misc. I made individual beam/ray graphics for each color, but after testing, I don't think I've seen the game actually use them. All spells, bolts, beams, etc. use the circular "explosion" or cloud tiles.
Aside from that, any news about the game? Been working on it in secret, or just too busy from work? Ha, ha. I know how that goes.
Glad to hear from you again, and glad to hear the tileset's coming along well. It's tough to get images to look good and be recognizable at that size, and yours managed to do both quite well.
There are half a dozen or so different attacks that actually use the directed bolt images as opposed to the round balls; Manticore tail spines, Chaos Mote bolts, and a couple more that I can't remember off the top of my head. Initially, there was a bit of extra code involved in using the bolts as opposed to the balls. Now, due to other changes, there isn't, but I haven't gone back through and modified the other powers that might use them.
As to the current state of MageGuild, I've gotten back around to it after burning a lot of time and energy on projects that never quite shook out as I wanted them to. There are some Very Cool Things in MG's future; I'm currently looking at a full interface overhaul, and quite a bit of new content. Keep your eyes peeled. :)
I just uploaded my finished tileset in 16 and 32 squared. It only took maybe two years of off and on work! Hopefully the style's not too inconsistent!
